Maxwell Centre Bollard Workshops

During the summer of 2021, I was commissioned by the Maxwell Centre to undergo workshops with the Coldside community, to restore the bollards in Hilltown Park. I created an activity sheet to record the group’s experiences and memories of fruit and veg, and collated these drawings and notes into a series of designs for the bollards.

I helped the group draw out and paint the designs, with members of the community choosing the colours or customising their bollard to make it their own. People then signed the bollards they’d helped to create.

Maxwell Door Mural Collaboration with Mairi Laird

I collaborated with Mairi Laird on a design for the Maxwell Centre’s door, to replace an older design. We each designed, one based on experiences in the garden and another on experiences in Hilltown Park.

We created designs for the door based on the notes, memories and drawings that people in the cooking group, walking group and after school club had shared, and collaborated on a final design. The design encompasses all the values of the centre; including growing food, connecting with nature, volunteering to help in the garden and helping the community.
